Analysis of coded wire tag recovery information from northern B.C. commercial fisheries for the years 1988 to 1992 of coho tagged within the Skeena River Watershed / by B.P. Spilsted.Fs97-4/2254E-PDF

"Estimated adjusted coded wire tag (CWT) recovery data of 3-year age class coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) tagged in lower Skeena River (Thornhill Creek/Eby Street, Terrace) and upper Skeena River (Kispiox River, Toboggan Creek, Fort Babine, Fulton River) locations is provided by statistical week. Analysis of these recoveries from northern B.C. commercial fisheries encompasses 1988 to 1992 recovery years (1985 to 1989 brood years) and is organized by geographic location (statistical areas 1, 3 and 4) and gear type: net (gillnet + seine) and troll. Tag recoveries for each location and gear type are expressed in terms of number of tags per 1,000 coho harvested (catch) and number of tags per 1,000 vessel days (effort). Lower Skeena data summarized for the period 1990 to 1992 indicates maximum incidence of tagged coho in the commercial troll catch occurs in area 3 (2.72 per 1,000 coho harvested) during statistical week 71, and for net catch occurs in area 3 (3.73 per 1,000 coho harvested) during statistical week 63. Upper Skeena information for the same period shows maximum incidence of tagged coho in troll catch occurs in area 3 (7.99 per 1,000 coho harvested) during statistical week 71, and for net catch occurs in area 4 (14.55 per 1,000 coho harvested) during statistical week 84"--Abstract, page v.
