"In 1995, the stock assessments of anadromous and catadromous fish species were reviewed regionally. As such, this report documents the review process followed in the Gulf Region including the consultations with industry and the peer review process. It should be noted that Gulf Region has scientific responsibility for all anadromous and catadromous stocks in the Maritimes. The technical details are provided for assessments of Atlantic salmon, gaspereau, smelt, eel, striped bass stocks in rivers throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. A regional overview describing the general stock trends and an environmental summary describing climatic conditions in 1994 compared to previous years is also presented. The report provides the scientific basis of the conclusions on the status of the stocks for 1995 and provides a technical record of the discussions"--Summary, page v.
