"This report presents results of the coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) smolt enumeration and coded-wire tagging study, and summarizes the adult coho fence count, upstream mark-recapture, and area-under-the-curve (AUC) escapement studies at Black Creek in 1992. The main objectives of the program were to: 1) describe the size and age distribution of the coho smolts leaving Black Creek; 2) insert full-length coded-wire tags (CWTs) into coho smolts and half-length CWTs into emigrant coho fry; 3) obtain results required to examine the relationships between physical environmental factors and smolt and adult migration; smolt migration timing and size and subsequent oceanic harvest distribution; and adult escapement and smolt production; 4) estimate numbers of returning salmon and to collect coded-wire tagged heads from these fish; and 5) collect data on length, sex, maturity, and age at return. …"--Introduction, page [1].
