Thompson-Shuswap salmon ecosystem action plan / Thompson-Shuswap Salmon Collaborative.: Fs144-94/2026E-PDF

"Salmon are vital to ecosystems, culture, and communities, yet they face unprecedented challenges. Twelve of 18 salmon populations in the Thompson–Shuswap are now considered at risk by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. The Thompson-Shuswap Salmon Ecosystem Action Plan is a collaborative roadmap and a call to action for all who work and live in the Thompson-Shuswap to unite in our shared responsibility to achieve better outcomes for salmon and their freshwater ecosystems. Co-developed by the Thompson-Shuswap Salmon Collaborative (TSSC), a partnership between the Secwépemc Fisheries Commission, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the BC Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship, this ecosystem action plan unites efforts under 6 shared goals: 1) increasing the quantity, quality, and diversity of aquatic habitat; 2) improving habitat connectivity; 3) safeguarding water quality; 4) safeguarding flows; 5) strengthening relationships with salmon; and 6) improving knowledge and coordination within the salmon community "--Executive Summary, page iii.
