Report of activities for the GEM-2 multi-kinetic apatite fission track (MK-AFT) modelling and method development / D.R. Issler and L.S. Lane.: M183-2/8147E-PDF
"Multi-kinetic apatite fission track (MK-AFT) thermochronology is a powerful and rapidly-evolving state-of-the-art technique for reconstructing the low temperature (<200°C) thermal history of sedimentary basins within the upper 4-6 km of the Earth’s surface... This report discusses some of the procedures that are used and presents MK-AFT thermal modelling results for an example in the northern Yukon, a geologically complicated region where much of the stratigraphic record has been removed by erosion. The MK-AFT method is able to resolve multiple thermal events in the study area because it treats different apatite compositional groups as separate thermochronometers that are sensitive to different parts of the thermal history"--Project Summary, page 1.
