"Recreational fishing is one of Canada's chief leisure activities. This sport has significant implications forconservation, because fishing affects an important natural resource, and for the economy, because anglersspend substantial sums of money to pursue their hobby. Questionnaires mailed to anglers are one of the mainmethods of obtaining information on the biological and economic aspects of sport fishing. … This report presents results of an angler mail-out survey which was sponsored by the Prince Edward Island Wildlife Federation with support from the Watershed Improvement/Recreational Fisheries Development Program and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The survey covered anglers licenced to fish trout and salmon on Prince Edward Island in 1994. Part of the questionnaire solicited opinions and recommendations on sport fishing on Prince Edward Island. The responses given by respondents to this invitation are presented in a separate report (Cairns 1996)"--Introduction, page [1].
