"As a result of an enquiry from some Alberta mink ranchers regarding the possibility of keeping mink at Hay River, the Fisheries Research Board was requested to investigate the advisability of permitting a fishery for "coarse" fish in that part of Great Slave Lake adjacent to Hay River. To gather the necessary data Mr. L. Knoll (in charge) and the juntor author caught fish in the vicinity of Hay River from June 23 to August 6, 1948"--Introduction, page 1.
