"Policy and program development relies on data and evidence to support decision making. Given the dearth of research on family law, there are gaps in understanding the circumstances of separated and divorced parents. The Department of Justice Canada (JUS) commissioned the 2025/26 National Survey of Separated and Divorced Parents to support active policy work pertaining to child support and parenting time arrangements. A series of discussion groups with the targeted populations was also commissioned to complement the quantitative evidence"--Summary, page 4.
