The analysis primarily focuses on examining the disparities in court outcomes of these groups at the decision (e.g., guilty, stayed) and sentencing (e.g., custody, probation) stages of the court process using the Adjusted Relative Rate Index (ARRI; see Text box 2). Where possible, results are further disaggregated by Indigenous group—First Nations people, Métis and Inuit—to better reflect the different experiences and outcomes of these individuals, as Indigenous youth are not a homogenous group.
