Using Census of Population data (1996 to 2021) and data from the 2011 National Household Survey, the paper explores the evolution of the Black populations in Canada and their composition in 2021. An intersectional perspective is used to explore the interactions between multiple diversity measures. By examining the main characteristics of the Black populations born in Canada, the Caribbean and Africa, this analytical portrait demonstrates that there is not one, but many diverse Black populations in Canada. aSystem requirements: Adobe Acrobat Reader.0 aUnrestricted online access.fUnrestricted online access.2star5CaOONL a5b567a2b-cb5d-452f-80c8-24510e8c4f63 0aImmigrantszCanadavStatistics. Widely observed crustal-scale structures with near vertical axial planes striking east-west indicate that the most recent and dominant phase of folding and horizontal shortening strain occurred during the Kenoran (D2) crustal deformation concurrent with Au mineralization and peak metamorphism at 2.72-2.66 Ga. Two mantle discontinuities strike 065À and 249À, dipping to the southeast and northwest, respectively. These strike roughly parallel the northern margin of the Superior craton and some intra-cratonic features such as the axis of the Quetico Basin"--Abstract, page 1. ac0a65e88-ec83-4666-81df-8053bf18abc6 0aCratonszCanada. 0aEarth (Planet)xMantle. 6aCratonszCanada. 6aTerrexManteau.2 aGeological Survey of Canada, eissuing body.403Bibliotháeque et Archives Canada / Library and Archives Canadauhttp://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.redirect?app=damspub&id=c0a65e88-ec83-4666-81df-8053bf18abc6zFormat(s): PDF70403Government of Canada Publications / Publications du gouvernement du Canadauhttps://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2024/rncan-nrcan/m183-2/M183-2-8756-eng.pdfzFormat(s): PDF70403electronic resourceuhttps://doi.org/10.4095/p8zz9che61 a92bNLC04110cam 22005897i 4500001001300000003000600013005001700019006001900036007001500055008004100070040004700111015002100158035002200179042002000201043001200221082003500233084001700268084001700285084001800302086003100320100003300351245011900384264006300503264001000566300004400576336002600620337002600646338003600672490007700708500012300785500001700908500004000925500013300965504005501098506007501153520116401228596004102392650005802433650003902491650003302530650006502563650005302628650004702681655002302728655002502751710003802776775021102814856017803025856020303203856010203406994001203508on1464068333OCoLC20241115213017.0m o d f cr cn|||||||||241023t20242024onca ob f000 u eng aNLCbengerdacNLCdOCLCOdNLCdOCLCOdNLC a202405141222can a(OCoLC)1464068333 alacderivedalac an-cn---14a338.7qCaOONL215/eng/20241105 acoll142lacc acoll292lacc acci1icc2lacc1 aCS36-28-0001/2024-9-3E-PDF1 aAbbes, Chahreddine,eauthor.10aPerformance of women-owned businesses that patent /cby Chahreddine Abbes, Amâelie Lafrance-Cooke and Danny Leung. 1a[Ottawa] :bStatistics Canada = Statistique Canada,c2024. 4cÃ2024 a1 online resource (15 pages) :bgraphs. atextbtxt2rdacontent acomputerbc2rdamedia aonline resourcebcr2rdacarrier0 aEconomic and social reports,x2563-8955 ;vVol. 4, no. 9, September 2024 aDistributed by the Government of Canada Publishing and Depository Services Program (Weekly acquisitions list 2024-43). aCover title. aAt head of title: Research article. aIssued also in French under title: Rendement des entreprises appartenant áa des femmes qui exercent des activitâes de brevetage. aIncludes bibliographical references (pages 14-15).0 aUnrestricted online access.fUnrestricted online access.2star5CaOONL3 a"This study compares the performance of businesses owned by women (majority or equal ownership) that patent with that of majority men-owned businesses and businesses where gender of ownership cannot be assigned. It finds that women-owned firms have higher survival rates, but lower revenue growth rates, after filing for a patent than businesses where gender of ownership cannot be assigned, even after controlling for observable firm characteristics. The differences between women-owned businesses and businesses where gender of ownership cannot be assigned are greater than those between women owned and majority men-owned businesses. Women-owned businesses have lower revenue growth rates than majority men-owned businesses, but only have higher survival rates in the fifth year after filing for a patent and after controlling for observable firm characteristics. When the possibility of exit through an acquisition is taken into account, differences in survival between women-owned businesses and other businesses disappear. The differences in rental costs observed for temporary foreign workers relative to Canadian-born individuals dropped to 5% when comparing renters with similar household characteristics living in the same neighbourhood and in similar dwellings. The higher rental costs paid by international students within a given urban area (or neighbourhood) can be entirely accounted for by differences in dwelling characteristics, as international students were less likely than Canadian-born individuals to reside in subsidized housing and more likely to live in condominiums and newer buildings"--Abstract, page 1. ab11749b4-eaba-42dc-b936-3771dacee2ad (2024). The modelling is based on the routines used to produce the Ground ice map of Canada (GIMC), modified to incorporate more detailed, 1:125 000 scale surficial geology mapping. This report provides a brief description of the modelling routines and the spatial data layers for three modelled ground ice types (relict, segregated, and wedge), and for the combined abundance. Furthermore, a tool to generalize and summarize raster ground ice model outputs for use in broader-scale applications is described and demonstrated using the Slave Geological Province model outputs as an example"--Abstract, page 1. a7785f0e4-806a-4126-9284-bced91c53f99 0aIcezNorthwest TerritoriesvMaps. 0aIcezNunavutvMaps. 6aGlacezTerritoires du Nord-OuestvCartes. 6aGlacezNunavutvCartes.2 artificial intelligence (AI) have raised questions about the future of work. Debates centre primarily around the possibility of AI displacing some human workers. Predicting the effects of technological transformation on the labour market is challenging. This is especially true for AI given the uncertainty surrounding the breadth of its potential; the pace of its development and implementation; and how workers, businesses and governments might react and adapt. Past studies on technological transformation examined the potential impact of automation on the Canadian labour market (Frenette and Frank, 2020). Automation is generally understood to be the use of machines to perform simple, routine and non-cognitive tasks. AI, on the other hand, can perform complex, non-routine and cognitive tasks. AI's capabilities are growing, and it is unclear how powerful it may be in the future"--Page 1. ad4b11fa7-f2a7-4c9e-a94e-26c53c26bf27 0aArtificial intelligencexEconomic aspectszCanadavStatistics. Rock-Eval and vitrinite reflectance analyses were conducted for these samples collected from outcrops on the island during field trips by GSC and university researchers. The results revealed the presence of Type III source rocks with TOC ranging between 1-56%, however most of the samples are immature with respect to hydrocarbon generation (below 0.5% VRo and average Tmax of 425ºC). Controlling for changes in COVID-19 restrictions and Canadians' health concerns, the study estimates that an increase of 1 percentage point in the monthly incidence of work from home was associated with a 0.55 percentage point reduction in the monthly growth rate of receipts in food services and drinking places in a given province during that period. Simple calculations based on these estimates suggest that the increase in work from home observed from February 2020 to April 2020 accounted for about one-third of the drop in revenues observed in this subsector between these two months"--Abstract, page 1. a0c149da7-ad85-4dfb-b779-1d4ab46e43c4 0aRestaurantszCanadavStatistics. 0aTelecommutingzCanadavStatistics. 0aCOVID-19 (Disease)xSocial The analysis also adopts an intersectional approach to explore the representation of women managers among racialized and Indigenous populations. The results indicate that, despite some progress, women remain underrepresented in management roles, holding 42.7% of middle management and 30.8% of senior management positions as of 2021"--Abstract, There are two types of coverage errors. The first, called population undercoverage, refers to excluding persons who should have been enumerated. The second, called population overcoverage, refers to either including persons who should not have been enumerated or enumerating persons more than once. In the first instance of overcoverage, the overall error is considered negligible. This basin underlies much of the Gulf of St Lawrence and can be studied onshore in parts of five eastern Canadian provinces. Approximately thirty participants, representing regional and national geoscience arms of government, universities, and the private sector, undertook multidisciplinary studies of onshore portions of the basin between 1993 and 1995. Stratigraphic studies of this extensive sedimentary basin underpinned this collective effort. Such studies have been supported historically by invertebrate paleontology which helps to place the rocks in relative geological time. Tailings generated by ore processing contain critical minerals including niobium (Nb), rare earth elements (REEs), and phosphorus (P). This report is concerned with characteristics of the tailings that could determine their critical mineral resource potential. It describes their physical properties, their mineralogy, and their bulk geochemistry. Measurements were made on split-spoon core samples obtained at continuous downhole intervals from a 25 m borehole penetrating the full thickness of the tailings impoundment"--Summary, page ii. a8d5f2100-e84c-41e9-8ba7-90f942db6570 0aMines and mineral resourceszQuâebec (Province)zOka. 0aNiobium industryzQuâebec (Province)zOka. 0aTailings (Metallurgy) 6aRessources minâeraleszQuâebec (Province)zOka. 6aNiobiumxIndustriezQuâebec (Province)zOka. 6aRâesidus (Minâeralurgie)2 aGeological Survey of Canada, eissuing body.403Bibliotháeque et Archives Canada / Library and Archives Canadauhttp://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.redirect?app=damspub&id=8d5f2100-e84c-41e9-8ba7-90f942db6570zFormat(s): PDF70403Government of Canada Publications / Publications du gouvernement du Canadauhttps://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2024/rncan-nrcan/m183-2/M183-2-9185-eng.pdfzFormat(s): PDF70403electronic resourceuhttps://doi.org/10.4095/pwu5neguzc a92bNLC04228cam 22005897i 4500001001300000003000600013005001700019006001900036007001500055008004100070040003500111015002100146035002200167042002000189043001200209082003600221084001700257084001700274084001800291086003100309100002800340245014200368264006300510264001000573300006500583336003100648337003400679338004300713490008200756500014000838500002800978500007001006500012401076504005701200506008201257520121201339596004102551650006702592650003602659650003802695650007302733650004202806650004602848655002302894655002502917710005102942775015002993856017803143856020303321856010203524994001203626on1464069194OCoLC20241115213017.0m o d f cr cn|||||||||241023t20242024onca ob f000 u fre aNLCbfreerdacNLCdOCLCOdNLC a202405142702can a(OCoLC)1464069194 alacderivedalac an-cn---14a331.12qCaOONL215/eng/20241105 acoll142lacc acoll292lacc acci1icc2lacc1 aCS36-28-0001/2024-9-4F-PDF1 aMehdi, Tahsin,eauteur.10aExposition áa l'intelligence artificielle dans les emplois au Canada :bestimations expâerimentales /cpar Tahsin Mehdi et Marc Frenette. More recent results from the March 2024 Labour Force Survey are provided in some cases. The share of recent immigrants in lower-skilled or labourer jobs (35%) was almost as high as the share working in higher skilled occupations (40%) in May 2021. However, recent immigrants and immigrants overall were much less likely than Canadian-born individuals to be in middle-skilled technical or trades jobs such as construction. Recent immigrants were more likely than their Canadian-born counterparts to be employed in higher-skilled occupations such as engineering and computer and information systems professions but less likely than Canadian-born individuals to be in nursing professions, partly because of the time it may take to become professional nurses"--Abstract, page 1. a99b3fee0-a92d-4b65-8a76-2dfd71c7aac3 The report then discusses potential causes of Pacific salmon decline in ocean and freshwater environments and how to address them. Lastly, it examines other tools and paths forward for the protection of wild Pacific salmon"--Page 10. aa5af4a22-e63b-476c-afb4-a58b5035fe04 0aPacific salmonxConservationzYukon. 0aPacific salmonxPopulation viability analysiszYukon. 0aSustainable fisherieszYukon. 6aSaumons du PacifiquexConservationzYukon. 6aSaumons du PacifiquexAnalyse de viabilitâe des populationszYukon. 6aPãeches durableszYukon.1 aMcDonald, Ken,d1959-1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJgd9R63kd9WJq6bjmth730 aCanada. To support this process, advice was solicited through the Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) on ecological design strategies that inform the representation and replication of ecological features, as well as network design parameters such as size, spacing, protection levels, and connectivity. The ecological design strategies can be used to develop initial site selection analyses that identify potential areas that meet ecological network objectives and are one of many inputs into the MPA network design process"--Abstract, page ix. a9169d329-fa7f-42c5-8bda-07cac85d20ab 0aMarine parks and reserveszBritish ColumbiazPacific Coast. 0aMarine ecologyzBritish ColumbiazPacific Coast.
