French nomenclature of North American birds / by Henri Ouellet et al. : S52-2/202
Terminology Bulletin 202. This publication contains approximately 2,000 entries. The authors' primary objective was to provide a French name for each bird species mentioned in the "Check-list of North American Birds", 6th edition (American Ornithologists' Union 1983), and its 35th, 36th and 37th supplements (A.O.U. 1985, 1987, 1989). Starting from the list presented in "Les noms français des oiseaux d'Amérique du Nord," published in 1983, they added to it more than 1,000 neotropical species. This document is intended for French-speaking ornithologists from Canada or foreign countries who require a standardized, coherent nomenclature.
