Trilingual vocabulary of nuclear waste management / by Hélène Jacob. Produced in cooperation with Union Latine. : S52-2/231-1996

Bulletin 231. There is growing public concern nowadays about industrial waste, especially nuclear waste. Since so little is known about the decay of nuclear waste over time, management of the problem requires very advanced technology and expertise. The "Trilingual Vocabulary of Nuclear Waste Management" contains some 1,000 concepts for a total of approximately 3000 terms in English, French and Spanish. The terminology provides an overview of the problems inherent in nuclear waste management and of the techniques used to solve them. Special attention has been given to defining basic physical concepts, waste classifications and disposal methods. Phraseologisms are an additional feature that may interest readers. Knowledge of phraseologisms can be very useful for effective communication. Listed together with the base term, phraseologisms not only provide an overview of expressions in use, they are also a useful cross-reference tool for defined concepts. To facilitate consultation, both a French-English-Spanish glossary and a Spanish-English-French glossary follow the English-French-Spanish vocabulary. A must for translators, specialized writers, and anyone involved with managing nuclear waste!
