"The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is the competent minister for the recovery of the endangered Atlantic Whitefish (Coregonus huntsmani) under the Species at Risk Act (SARA). DFO has led the development and implementation of the strategic directions set out in the Recovery Strategy for the Atlantic Whitefish (Coregonus huntsmani) in Canada (DFO 2006), published in February 2007, in collaboration with many different constituencies, including the long-standing multi-stakeholder/multi-interest advisory Atlantic Whitefish Conservation and Recovery Team"--Executive summary, p. ii.
