5203 |aVentilation of Northern houses can be problematic. Colder temperatures and special design requirements influence the overall performance of heat recovery ventilators (HRV) and energy recovery ventilators (ERV) in the North. The Tri-Territorial Technical Subcommittee developed a list of concerns covering ventilation issues from equipment design and testing, to installation, maintenance, operation and training. This Highlight summarizes key findings of the analysis of existing codes or standards and/or currently available or emerging ventilation technologies to see if they are capable of addressing identified concerns. This Highlight also discusses the need for a Northern HRV performance specification and includes a draft of a Northern HRV technical specification.
