It describes the birth statistics, committee structure, educational undertakings, physical facilities, and practices and policies for labour and birth, postpartum, infant feeding, neonatal intensive care/special care nursery, and for families coping with grief and loss. It is based on a mail survey to all hospitals in Canada that provided maternity services in 1993.--Preface
