This is the final report of the External Advisory Committee on Smart Regulation. The committee’s task was to identify how to improve the regulatory system in Canada to sustain Canada’s well-being into the future. The report sets out a vision and principles for smart regulations; recommendations for drafting a new federal regulatory strategy; and recommendations for smart regulation in various sectors of the economy, including manufacturing and product approval, biotechnology/life sciences, and oil and gas exploration and development.
