While the Commission agreed to conduct an inquiry into this claim, it also issued an interim ruling into this inquiry and the James Smith Cree Nation: IR 100A inquiry, whereas the Commission would conduct a single fact-finding process with respect to the history of IR 100A. The Commission held six planning conferences; a community session where it heard evidence from Chief Settee and eight elders; issued two interim rulings; and heard oral arguments from counsel for the parties.
