Criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management in Canada - national status 2005 : Fo4-8/2005E

This report assesses the 2005 status of Canada’s forests using science-based criteria and indicators to facilitate a common understanding of sustainable forest management. The criteria are categorized under biological diversity; ecosystem condition and productivity; soil and water; role in global ecological cycles; economic and social benefits; and society’s responsibility, including to Aboriginal and treaty rights and forest-dependent communities. Each criterion is examined in terms of Canada’s forest regions and indicators are ranked on their data’s coverage, currency, and frequency.
