International illustrated vocabulary of English-French fingerprint terminology with a short index in six languages : Serbian, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, German.) / Compiled by Jean L. F. Lambert. : JS63-5/1-1991rev.

Compiled by Jean L. F. Lambert. Issued by the Official Languages Directorate, Translation Branch, Terminology Unit. This publication retraces early fingerprint history, and it provides illustrations that can easily be compared. The body of the dictionary gathers most of today's fingerprinting terminology. A complete range of references is made, from the structure of friction ridge skin and the different ridge configurations and anomalies, to the fingerprint brush, the computer, and radioactive sulphur dioxide. The most important terms are defined, cross-referenced, or illustrated. This publication fills a gap both in criminal procedure and in medical science. It is a dictionary for the translator, a manual for the police officer, and a reference book for the lawyer and medical researcher. Bibliography, figures.
