This booklet outlines the importance of forests to Canada’s communities, economy, and environment, and the framework of criteria and indicators used to assess them. It then reports on six criteria: biological diversity; ecosystem condition and productivity; soil and water; role in global ecological cycles; economic and social benefits; and society’s responsibility. A fold-out chart sets out the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers framework of criteria and indicators for 2003.
