520 |aThe purpose of this report is to provide a summary of the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) program (launched in 2010 with a budget of $100 million) and the projects it funded between 2010 and 2014. Because the program was renewed until 2018 under Canada’s Economic Action Plan 2014, the intent is to provide a periodic update to profile new technology, innovation and transformation as projects are completed. Over the years, we will inform the reader on a) how and why projects were selected; b) what they have achieved; and c) why they are innovative and transformative for the Canadian forest sector. Moving forward, this report and periodic follow-ups will be published on our departmental website so that interested stakeholders can follow the progress of projects and see the outcomes realized by forest product companies across Canada.
