With regard to the use of Norwegian farm strains of Atlantic salmon in the aquaculture industry in Newfoundland, the main identified issues of concern are: the increased potential for ecological effects from animals in culture; the increased potential for direct and indirect genetic impacts from farm escapes; the potential for preventing or reducing the likelihood of escapes from culture; the potential for preventing or reducing post-escape interactions.
