520 |aIn general, low marine survival continues to be an area of concern and the limiting factor affecting abundance of Newfoundland and Labrador salmon. The South Newfoundland (SFAs 9-12) Atlantic Salmon populations remain a concern, especially Conne River. COSEWIC (2010) designated South Newfoundland (DU 4) salmon populations as threatened in November 2010. The listing process is ongoing and public consultations are currently underway. There is a knowledge gap regarding the potential impact the expanding aquaculture industry along the south coast may have on wild Atlantic Salmon populations.
