520 |aThe results of this study demonstrate that while there is significant potential to capture solar energy to help offset the energy needs of northern housing, actual solar energy capture is very sensitive to the orientation of the house on the site and the angles that the solar capture surfaces present to the sun. Therefore, to optimize the solar energy potential of houses in the North, careful attention must be paid to the planning and design of both houses and communities.
