At a glance : prevention of sexually transmitted and blood borne infections among ethnocultural communities. : HP40-148/2015E-PDF
This document summarizes current research evidence and gaps related to prevention and the determinants of vulnerability to and resilience against sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBIs) among ethnocultural minorities. It is intended to provide public health professionals, researchers, staff in provincial/territorial governments and community organizations with evidence and areas for action to inform STBBI prevention programming, policy and research that address STBBIs among diverse ethnocultural communities across Canada. Comparing ethnocultural groups remains a challenge not only due to incomplete reporting of race/ethnicity data but also due to the diversity between subgroups. The focus of this document is to address those individuals most vulnerable to STBBIs while acknowledging that there is no one size fits all approach given the wide diversity among subgroups and the unique life experiences of individuals.
