520 |a"The objective of our study was to determine through field sampling the species-specific densities of nekton in seagrass (Zostera marina L., eelgrass) beds and adjacent bare soft-sediment bottom on the Atlantic coast of NS, and to calibrate the data for sampling gear and day-night differences in order to ready the data for use in the production model. The results of this field sampling and data pre-processing are presented in this report. Specifically, we present: (1) the raw and calibrated field data of species-specific nekton densities, in Z. marina beds and bare softsediment bottom, (2) species-specific calibration ratios used to account for the different sampling gears and differences in nekton density between day and night, (3) size frequency data and literature information used to determine age class of captured nekton, and (4) detailed descriptionof the habitat characteristics and environmental conditions at each sampling site"--Introd, p. 1-2.
