Survey of drinking water treatment devices available on the Canadian retail market in 1999 / by Manon Lavoie. : H129-62/2000E-PDF
Drinking water treatment devices are products used by consumers to treat the water they intend to drink. Devices can be divided into three groups, according to their purpose. Devices in the first group are designed to disinfect water contaminated by microorganisms, those in the second group to improve the taste, odour and appearance of the water, and those in the third to remove chemical contaminants. This study draws a profile of drinking water treatment devices available to Canadian consumers in the fall of 1999. During that time, information was collected about the types of devices available, performance claims made by manufacturers, and whether the devices carried certification marks. Because the survey did not follow scientific sampling methodology, it does not claim to fully reflect the actual Canadian market.
