Geochemical signatures of uraninite from iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) systems of the Great Bear magmatic zone, Canada / [by] E.G. Potter ... [et al.]. : M183-2/7545E-PDF

The Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI-4) is a collaborative federal geoscience program that provides industry with the next generation of geoscience knowledge and innovative techniques to better detect buried mineral deposits, thereby reducing some of the risks of exploration. Although the Olympic Dam iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) deposit contains the world's largest recoverable U resource, very little is known regarding the processes and timing of U enrichment in these complex deposits. In this study, trace element concentrations of the main U mineral were examined from Canadian IOCG systems located in the Great Bear magmatic zone, NWT. The data yield consistent geochemical signatures across the entire zone, indicating a systematic process of U enrichment and precipitation. These results confirm field observations and have significant impacts in terms of IOCG deposit model.
