520 | |aThis report is part of the Milk River Transboundary Aquifer Project (MiRTAP) launched by the Geological Survey of Canada in 2009. The objective of this report is to integrate previous and current geological, hydrogeological and geochemical studies of the Milk River Aquifer in order to present a unified portrait of the aquifer. Therefore, the present report constitutes a comprehensive review of previous and current studies of the Milk River aquifer on both sides of the Canada/US border. In particular, a transboundary extent of the aquifer has been proposed, and a specific stratigraphic correlation study, based on recent correlation works, has been carried out in order to identify the equivalent geological layers on both sides of the international border. This integration allows a better understanding of the transboundary aspects of the aquifer and will be used as basis to generating a conceptual model. |
