520 |aDual and compact polarimetric (CP) SAR systems are of emerging interest since they provide more target scattering information than single-polarization SAR systems with less stringent data requirements than fully polarimetric SAR systems. Some quad and full polarimetric data exploitation features can be extracted from CP data by applying CP products and incorporating certain target assumptions. This can be enhanced by optimizing the CP products and modes designed for target classes of interest. Applications of interest include, but are not limited to, trafficability, urban structures and ship detection. Various modes, products and target property assumptions are formulated and investigated for analysis and design of CP modes tailored to applications of interest.
