Using microbial genome sequences from public databases, a high-density microarray system has been developed which should enable the identification of hundreds of individual species or strains of pathogenic microorganisms on a single assay platform. This report summarizes the design, development, and testing of this microarray design. The system is currently capable of discriminating multiple human pathogens, Category A biothreats, and some agricultural pathogens, other using supervised analysis methods. Ongoing development will include tools for automation of analysis, and extension of the testing panel of microbes. |
