520 |aThe study has focused on unique geologic environments throughout the Northwest Passage, including: mud volcanoes, pockmarks, oil and gas seeps, faults, slopes and ice scours. These features hold particular interest to the oil and gas industry, northern communities, environmentalists and the general public; as well as scientists, due to their association with possible greenhouse gas emissions, potential hydrocarbons at depth, geohazards, and unique ecosystems. This report details the geologic framework and processes of these unique seabed environments with potential linkages to ecologic hotspots.
