520 |aThe Brighter Futures initiative, implemented in 1992, provides funding to First Nations and Inuit communities for community mental health, child development, injury prevention, parenting skills, and healthy babies’ programs and services. Its overall goal is to support the well-being of First Nation and Inuit children, individuals and families through community-determined approaches. The Building Healthy Communities initiative, which was introduced in 1994, provides funding to help First Nations and Inuit communities develop mental health crisis management services, as well as solvent abuse prevention and early identification programs. This report presents the results of an evaluation of the two initiatives.
