"Different concerns and perspectives produce different definitions for both the basic subjects of this study, nursing homes and hostels, and for definitions of levels of care. On the question of care, in particular, many different interpretations exist, and takentogether, they form a more accurate picture than if viewed apart. It is the purpose of this paper to provide a synthesis of existing opinions in order that a more exact set of definitions may emerge." - p.2.
