This document sketches a financial portrait of Gaspé Peninsula lobster boats. This portrait is the result of a survey carried out among a sample of fishers and deals with the 1998 operating year. The average cash flow and the characteristics of the fleet are presented in this document. Moreover, the analysis includes the notion of the break-even point as well as the various scenarios involving variations in the landing price for lobster. This study on the operating results takes on particular importance when determining the economic stakes and the financial characteristics of Gaspé Peninsula lobster boats.
