5200 |a"Mange, scabies, or itch is a serious contagious disease of the skin affecting all classes, ages, and conditions of our domestic animals. It is a scheduled disease under the Animal Contagious Diseases Act. This Act, and the regulations made thereunder, demand that every owner, breeder, dealer, and veterinary surgeon, suspecting the existence of this disease in horses, cattle, and sheep, shall immediately notify the nearest veterinary inspector. This action is essential to enable the taking of prompt measures for the control and eradication of outbreaks, with a view to protecting the live stock interests"--p. [1].
