Amended recovery strategy for the Atlantic whitefish (Coregonus huntsmani) in Canada . : En3-4/18-2016E-PDF
"As a result of the species' reduced distribution and presumed low abundance, the Atlantic Whitefish was assessed as 'Endangered' by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) in 1984; a designation which means the species is at imminent risk of extinction. This ‘Endangered’ status was re-confirmed by COSEWIC in 2000 and 2010. This amended recovery strategy restates the overall goal and broad strategies that continue to be relevant and realistic to protect and recover Atlantic Whitefish. The overall goal of the recovery strategy is to: "Achieve stability in the current population of Atlantic Whitefish in Nova Scotia, reestablishment of the anadromous form, and expansion beyond its current range.''"--Executive summary, p. vii, viii.
