"In 2015, spawner surveys were conducted on 63 streams on the west coast of Vancouver Island, DFO statistical areas 20 to 27. The individual survey counts by species are presented in this data report as well as the expansion factors used to make annual estimates of escapement. The escapement estimates are accompanied by data quality levels and commentary on the general observations of the return with respect to previous years, unusual conditions and survey timing. The stream protocols are briefly described with emphasis on any deviations from the standard snorkel survey assessment method. General observations on environmental conditions and any changes in the physical characteristics of the stream or surrounding area are also reported. Enhancement activities and biosamples are described. These observations and results have been discussed and agreed upon by surveyors and DFO stock assessment biologists.
