"The National Housing Act is "an Act to promote the construction of new houses, the repair and modernization of existing houses and the improvement of housing and living conditions". The Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation has been the chief means by which the intention of the Act has been translated into programs and mechanisms of action concerning the Canadian housing stock. CMHC has concentrated on providing new housing for lower income groups over the years. ...
