"The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) was established in 1966 to provide working Canadians and their families with income for retirement and with financial help if workers died or became disabled. Today, the CPP, together with the Quebec Pension Plan, play an important role in improving the incomes of Canadian seniors, those who lose their spouses, and the seriously disabled. Canadian governments have been strongly committed to the CPP since its beginning. Governments today maintain that commitment. ..."--P.7.
