"This is a new publication. For the first time the Public Institutions Division is publishing twenty-six years of government revenue and expenditure statistics for the federal, provincial and local governments in Canada based on a common universe, classification, concepts and methods. Also included are consolidated revenues and expenditures, which provide an indication of the total size of government by eliminating intergovernmental revenues and expenditures. This is the first time the Division is making available comprehensive statistics for all three levels of government in one volume. For the first time, using one Statistics Canada publication the user will be able to trace the size, structure and composition of governments in Canada as reflected by their financial statistics." -- Preface.
