"Most of the world is wrestling with economic problems. Following the widespread economic weakness beginning in 1990, the recovery has been weak. Growth in the major industrial countries has been hesitant and much lower than expected a year ago. Canada is only slowly recovering from a painful and prolonged world recession. The economy remains weak and people and businesses everywhere are deeply worried about what the future holds.
