The influence of termination configuration on the flow performance of flues / a study prepared for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation by Scanada Consultants Limited, Scanada Sheltair Consortium Inc. : NH18-1/400-1987E-PDF
"As part of its ongoing study of combustion venting problems in Canadian houses, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation engaged the Scanada Sheltair Consortium to conduct studies of several aspects of chimney flue performance, including: the influence of thermal and flow design parameters on the performance of chimneys, the performance of flues shared by gas furnaces and water heaters, the influence of flue caps and dampers on chimney performance, and the performance of sealed, insulated venting systems for oil furnaces. This report deals with one part of one of the above studies – the influence of flue caps on flue performance. The title has been changed to mention termination configuration rather than caps because performance data on capless flues is also of interest.
