"The reciprocal effects of bureaucracy and regionalism in Canada have received too little attention from scholars and practitioners of public administration. Especially notable is the neglect of the role of the federal bureaucracy in relations between the national government and the regions and provinces. The major objective of this study is to examine the actual and potential role of the federal bureaucracy in relation to the issue of regionalism in Canada. Particular attention is focussed on the implications for regionalism of bureaucratic representation and responsiveness."--p. 1.
