"This bulletin is the second preliminary release of data being incorporated in a monograph on The Housing of the Canadian People. The first release entitled 'The Housing Accommodation of the Canadian People' was mainly a summary of 1931 census compilations. The present bulletin contains a preliminary analysis of material sampled from census records relating to earnings and housing for wage-earner households in 14 cities. These include the 5 Prairie cities of 30,000 population and over for which data were available for 1936 as well as 1931. This material supplements census statistics with reference to such questions as the distribution of family earnings, tenant rentals, the value of owned homes, etc."--Pref., p. 1.
