"In recent years changes in the reproductive behaviour of Canadian women have had some significant impact on many social, political and economic institutions. Consequences of fluctuations in fertility are even more likely to be crucial in the future. Therefore an investigation of the childbearing patterns of women should have a high priority in Canadian demographic research. This monograph is a limited attempt towards this end. It provides an overall description and analysis of Canadian fertility patterns and differentials using data primarily from the 1971 Census. ..."--Pref.
