"The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA) is one of the principal federal laws aimed at environmental protection in Canada. CEPA declares “that the protection of the environment is essential to the well-being of Canadians and that the primary purpose of this Act is to contribute to sustainable development through pollution prevention.” Significantly, the focus of the Act is on pollution prevention from both a human and an environmental perspective with the Act implicating both the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the Minister of Health"--Intro., p. 1.
