This fact sheet provides an overview of planning and design guidelines to consider when creating, renovating or redecorating the living spaces in your home where people meet, sleep, relax, watch TV, read, play cards, listen to music, and so on. These guidelines reflect the principles of universal design, which result in homes that are safer and more accommodating to everyone who lives or visits there, regardless of age or physical ability.
