"Art Metropole develops an important archive and collection of artists internationally. In 1997, its items (numbering more than 12,000) are transferred to the National Gallery of Canada’s Library and Archives, Ottawa, donated by Mr. Jay A. Smith of Toronto. ... The list that follows is grouped by year, followed in alphabetical order by: a) Publications and Editions: As applicable, the name of artist/author/editor (as applicable), title, type of publication, edition size (as known), and any other relevant information. All Art Metropole retail and trade catalogues are included, recorded by title (as printed on the cover); those designed by artists are noted. Unless otherwise stated all are published by Art Metropole (Art Official Inc.). b) Events and Related Ephemera: Miscellaneous publications advertising ephemera begin the section, as applicable, followed by the date and name of the event and type of ephemera produced"--Preamble, p. 2-3.
