520 | |a"Annual Saltmarsh Aster (previously assessed by COSEWIC as Bathurst Aster) is a small annual herb of brackish marshes and shores. In Canada, it is typically under 30 cm, and often under 10 cm tall, though it can grow much larger in the U.S.A. Stems are typically extensively branched with 5-60 heads (clusters of tiny bluish-white ray florets and yellow disk florets) in a pyramidal inflorescence. The short ray florets distinguish this species from co-occurring aster species"--Wildlife Species Description and Significance, p. iv. |
